This year it goes to Malaysia and we have only four weeks to get to know the country and its people, culture, food and eating habits of this Southeast Asian country. The plan is to discover a healthy mix of new and learn to relax and of course must not be neglected. Whether it is an island or a beach on the mainland, we do not know yet.
But the first step has been made: The decision that we go to Malaysia, has fallen. Previously, Korea and China were still in the race, but because of climatic conditions in our travel time, we have chosen Malaysia. Korea and China will be served at another time.
The second step is also done: The flights are booked. We start our tour in Thailand and will travel from there to the south. Within Thailand, we will travel by train. From Bangkok we have before, with 1-2 intermediate stops across the border to enter Malaysia. The journey by train through Thailand, we have already done twice. Once we are to Chumphon and Surat Thani once over to Koh Samui.
Now we have a variety of literature and read us a concern about current conditions, land, people and culture. We are excited to see where we will drive the trip and how different Thailand and Malaysia.
Clock in the morning at 6.20 we arrive in Bangkok. A coffee at the Black Canyon and on to the hotel. The taxi drivers at rail stations are hard and try an over-priced vehicle prices prima facie case. So go out and runs out of the station and keep on the high road: on Rama IV, a taxi.
In the hotel again rested briefly, then go ... one more round in the city and turned off to meet with Ben Thomburi.
Today is our "shopping day". Off to Carrefour and there can be more custom t-shirts and then we go to the Skytrain station: Siam. Evren and Thomas have a long list of equipment and it must be obtained and compared prices. The trouble in the matter is that it always so cold in the shopping centers and we spend hours in it. Around the station only Siam Shopping Center, one after another, huge in size. Completely finished, we come back by 21 clock to fresh air ![]()
.. And on it goes into a "couch surfing" meeting.
These are people who provide a sleeping room for other people from couchsurfing at home. Good times, we want to know.
We have an appointment with Jana at "Sala Deang". It leads us to the meeting place. A IrishPub! Neeeein should we turn around again? In Thailand and then in western so'n beer shed where there is steak for dinner. Degrees yesterday I was still talking about it with Erdal, that we would go in to anything like that here in any way. Is that stupid, so I can leave in Germany. If we go into those shops looked clean, we also saw in it only olle tourists. If it all home, hey! Well, whatever, now we are sitting over a beer at the pub, 2-3 CouchSurfing have met people who tell you about is ... Well. Erdal and I urge is to go out ... out there ..... eat it after 23 clock. "Where are you going to go eat now? Now it takes only street food "tells us of a couch surfer. Quickly get out of here and forget that we were in there.
On our way we pass several food stalls and put us back into an open street food. Order various Thai treats and everything is fine again.
The night of 23-5 Clock lying awake.
Every hour I hear the elevator chime. The Night Watch revolves apparently regularly make their rounds.
It expects us a breakfast buffet from around the world. We start with a miso soup, followed by French toast and then "Power Bread" taste at all and even after the 3rd with cheese, vegetables and fruits, the coffee Cup shows no effect. There are hardly any guests at the Hotel: An American couple, three lonely men and two soldiers.
A second Experiment, the longed-GPRS phone card to buy 7eleven works out this time: Company "True." Unfortunately they can not be activated. We walk to Carrefour, for there is a "true" shop. The lady speaks good English and calls the office: There is currently registration problems in the course of the day but the problem should be fixed. So it is now and we can make calls, but still not the Internet. Internet access in the hotel we find too expensive. Not too there is still Starbucks. There you can for 150 baht (3 €) for one hour to go online.
We start a long trek through the back roads of Sukhumvit Road. In this way it gives you the best overview, past the motorcycle taxis, smelly klong, read this post »

What if we get sick in Thailand?
What pays the health insurance?
Are we adequately insured in foreign countries?
Diarrhea we have in our Tannacomp Reiseaphoteke.
A disinfectant spray should not be missing, and 400 IBU painkillers.
With English you come to Thailand deal, but more sympathy among the local people to raise, you should be at least a couple of Thai - appropriate sentences.
This is for beginners like us to consider that one next to the correct pronunciation still has to make the pitch (as in Chinese), because Thai is a monosyllabic tonal language. There are also consonants and vowels, which are not available to us.
Audition and then sing is the best method of learning:
For this we are then in Thailand shoot a short film in which we allow ourselves to audition a few key phrases in the right sound.
The first important rule we learn what we say to ALL the following suffix to hang:
"Khrap" (if you're male) or "kha" (if one is a woman)
This is THE polite form in Thailand.
Whether you greet only briefly ...
a sentence says ...
or giving a speech.
Close everything you say with the extension "Khrap" or "kha" from!
