Back at home again.
Home? A contradictory feeling is spreading. The feeling is not quite like that coming at homecoming in Germany, after a journey. It is probably just a good feeling to come back into his own home where you have peace and quiet ... although, it is still not here. But we are there for us. We are once again arrived back at our apartment in Izmir.
The friendly professor doctor was met by his wife at the airport. A quiet woman who is also friendly sovereign in their huge cars parked in front of us. The professor wanted to drive us doctor to go home, after several attempts to cut off the supply but then they put us in front of our apartment house.
In the elevator we receive the Turkish Dudelmusik and in the apartment, we can finally drop all things. In the kitchen we killed a few of the critters. Slowly it has become everyday life here, so really you get used to everything. At any time, to which one enters the kitchen, you're ready to strike. One could look at it even as a kind of sport, because the critters are damn fast.
Two beers in the fridge waiting for us. A few olives, tomatoes and feta cheese are also available and so we sit in our glass conservatory, listen to the evening traffic noise of Inonu Cad. and our cool Efes enjoy by candlelight.
Tomorrow begins for me again to work at the school and Erdal is looking forward to another day as a house husband.
The man next to me, but then caught me in a conversation and it turns out that he is not James Bond. The conversation is not one of the most unpleasant or superficial conversations about the weather and stuff.
He is very interested in questions: Where do we come from, what we are planning in Turkey and what we do in Izmir. But even if our expectations are met or whether there are problems and there. But it is not the only time the phrase, but that Turkey would be the most beautiful country in the world, and in general, that all life here and would like to like to live. read this post »
Again we have set ourselves and again through the security checkpoint. It is sometimes an extreme test of patience to perform this procedure.
Most passengers are wearing suits. Some, like the guy from the gate, a briefcase in the James Bond format. Greetings from Moscow, but are determined not in there. of this entry »
After dinner we have an appointment with our family. But we are ready for something of that we are hardly in a position to visit the whole family in the home of an uncle. It would only be a brief meeting with "Hello and Goodbye," because we also need to pilots. I call him an uncle and describe the situation. He expressed understanding, but he is still sad.

Now that we have made power-Sight-Seeing in Ankara and have approached the major tourist stops, we went to a restaurant that my cousin has invited us. It is a meat house. It can accommodate hundreds of people and we were delighted with the card. Many Turkish grilled meats can be found there. The owner Recep Usta, who also is the chef himself comes from the region of Diyarbakir. Diyarbakir is famous for its spicy cuisine and offers many pleasures of the palate of meat.
The restaurant is situated in a valley, the "Park Vadi" means. "Park in the Valley", one could translate it accordingly. The valley has a very checkered history, which I will mention briefly:
It was a slum in the city center. Finally, the city grew more and more slums and this was targeted by real estate sharks. Finally it got so that the valley should be turned into a park and around it should Luxury caused tall buildings to buy in which the newly-rich Turks for several hundred thousand euros flats and flat panel displays and university diplomas can be nailed to the wall. But what do the poor people there? of this entry »
After a very disappointing breakfast at the hotel are overpriced Erdal collects one's cousin.
Together we go through Ankara. One notes the very close but the residential development - since 1923 - the capital of Turkey. From the name Angora was finally Ankara.
Istanbul is the largest city, Ankara, the second largest.
We park near the Ataturk Mausoleum and boots up. The Ataturk Mausoleum is located on a hill surrounded by green grass. The grave of Ismet Inonu is also here, he was the second president of Turkey. Ataturk's grave is in the Hall of Fame. He was born in Thessaloniki -. Greece this entry »
After we rested in the hotel and a round of Erdal still ironing his clothes quickly, let it go even further back to a hairdresser.
Here are my hair and make-up can be done, as this make all the female guests for parties in Turkey, I will also be making this today. Very well.
The disaster begins at the front door, as Erdal translated for me that no men are allowed to enter. read this post »
We were invited by relatives at a wedding in Ankara.
Wonderful opportunity for us, we can look at the same time the capital of Turkey.
Flights within Turkey are relatively cheap, so we fly for about 50 € a week to Ankara.
Should be celebrated and spend the night in a "teacher house" hotel.
A double room was already reserved, but at check-in there was a huge problem:
different last names on a room that is not clear!
Cynically, we were asked the question: "Whether we in Germany can not bear the same last name when you are married?" read more of this entry »
